Introduction

 

 

 

The ASIC EEA001 is a complete controller of enhanced, high performance, drives for stepping motors integrating the functions of sequencer and power stages control and protection against overcurrent, over & under-voltage, over-temperature.

 

Mastered by the standard step motor drive's controls (Step, Direction, Enable) it ensures the highest motor's performances through the execution of 

Micro-stepping movements at high step resolution (up to 1/256) permitted by no odd harmonics sinusoidally shaped winding currents (Maximum step frequency: 2,56 MHz).

 

The ASIC also allows to set a smoothing factor to optimize the drive and motor performances in terms of:

- Low heating of the motor

•  Step angle settings (by mean of state inputs): Full, ½, ¼, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32,

    1/64, 1/128, 1/256, 1/5, 1/10, 1/25, 1/50, 1/125, 1/250;

•  Motor current setting (by means of state inputs) as percentage of the

   maximum current rating of the drive's power stage;: 18%, 23%, 27%, 32%,

   35%, 41%, 45%, 50%, 54%, 63%, 73%, 82%, 90%, 100%;

• Selection of the motor excitation smoothing factor (16 levels are available);

STEP / DIR or CLK_UP / CLK_DWN operating modes set by mean of

   state input;

• Selection of the active edge of STEP and DIR inputs;

• Selection of ENABLE user input active polarity;

• Optional enabling of the automatic winding current reduction at motor

   standstill (to 60% after 1 sec from the last STEP pulse);

•  Analog input for power supply voltage reading (Over/Under-voltage

    protection);

•  analog input for power stages temperature rise reading (Over-temperature

    protection);

•  Real-time input for fast opening of drive's power stages (Over-current 

    protection);

•  Single power supply 3.3 Vdc, 56 mA max;

•  3.3Vdc inputs (all 5Vdc-tolerant); 3.3Vdc outputs;

•  Package: 32 leads Low Profile

•  Quad Flat Pack (LQFP), 0,8 mm pitch 7x7x1.4mm, JEDEC MS-026 BBA 

    Standard);

•  Temperatures: working -40°C ÷ +105°C; storage -40°C ÷ +150°C.
